China-origin used cars must be exported by eligible enterprises under applicable procedures, which may include vehicle verification, third-party inspection, an export licence, customs declaration and deregistration. Under the rules effective January 1, 2026, a vehicle whose registration date is less than or equal to 180 days before the export application requires a stamped After-sales Service Confirmation issued by the manufacturer, including the destination country, vehicle details and after-sales service outlets; an export licence will not be issued if it cannot be provided.
